Welcome to Sunrise Kids Nepal
My trip to Nepal in 2008 left a long, lasting impression on me, one that will stay with me forever and gave me a new insight into the world we live in.
After two years working in Dubai, I decided it was time to give something back to something or someone, so having raised £1,000; I headed out to Nepal with my then girlfriend Tamsin. (Now wife to be...)
What I learnt on our trip was how we often take so much for granted in our lives. Our visits to the Chitwan and Phutung Orphanages in Nepal were a humbling experience.
The orphans are lovingly looked after by “Orphanage Parents”, but live in meagre conditions with very basic amenities available to them, yet they remain clean, tidy, proud, considerate and very welcoming people.
What I will never forget and this brought a tear to my eye, was when I asked one of the children about what he wanted to do after finishing his schooling. Ignorantly, I had expected him to aspire to be a farmer or work in a shop, but he told me he would work hard and one day wanted to be a pilot for the Nepali national airline. It was from that moment I decided I could, and would, make a difference.
We want to hear from you and give you the opportunity to really get involved. Help us make a lasting, positive difference with these young lives, so that dreams about becoming a pilot with the national airline don’t just remain dreams, but become reality...
With thanks,
John McCann
