Welcome to Sunrise Kids Nepal
Our trip to Nepal in 2008 left a long, lasting impression on me and gave me a new insight into the world.
Following several successful years working in Dubai, I decided I had the opportunity to help others less well off and give something back to society. Having raised £1000, I headed out to Nepal with my wife Tamsin to learn about children’s orphanage projects.
I learnt we take a lot for granted in our own lives, and are actually luckier and a lot better off than we think. This visit we made to 2 of the orphanages we now support was a humbling experience.
There are a huge number of orphaned children in Nepal, the ones we visited our lovingly looked after by “Orphanage Parents”, but live in meagre conditions with only the very basic amenities available to them; yet they remain clean, tidy, proud, considerate and very welcoming.
What will stay with me forever, and brought a tear to my eye, was that they retained a hope they could succeed in life and still dreamt of a better life and would work hard for it. I asked one of the children about what they wanted to do after finishing his schooling.
I had expected him to aspire to be a farmer or work in a shop, but he told me he would work hard and one day wanted to be a pilot for the Nepali national airline. It was from that moment I decided to make a difference.
Get involved with us, and help make a difference to the lives of orphaned children in one of the poorest countries in the world, so that dreams of becoming a pilot can become reality.
